Contemporary Restaurant Cooking
Cookbook

Challenge: Design a cookbook for the students of the MATC Culart 106 class, following the budget requirements and keeping it user friendly.

Idea: This cookbook is meant to be used during the class, and needs to be easy to read and flip through. For my research, I looked into many different examples of culinary school cookbooks to get an idea of what made them different from a cookbook for a home cook. What I gathered is that functionality comes before aesthetics. A clean design with a sans serif font, bold colors, and only necessary images were needed.

Concept: Keeping functionality as my priority, the cookbook will contain a color coded table of contents with corresponding colors on for the pages. I used a bold sans-serif typeface that’s easy to read quickly, and a column format for each recipe with space for notes.

Note: I came runner up for this design!
